After the ambush, the rest of the trip on the short cut went smoothly, the group reaching Striaton City right as the sun began to set between the buildings of the city. Striaton was larger than both of the towns they had been in previously, and a few signs pointed the way towards the famous Three Color Gym and Cafe. However, they knew their goal. Through a combination of Luke's general idea of its location and some helpful locals, it only took about twenty minutes to make it to the entrance of the Dreamyard, the gate blocking the way being rusted and falling apart at the hinges. With just a hint of searching, they were able to find a massive gap in the fence, making it easy enough to get past the supposedly locked gate. Once they made it past the fence and were able to take a look around. Four dilapidated buildings stand around the fenced in area, all ruined beyond repair, sporting collapsed roofs and shattered windows, it seems weird that the city hasn't just demolished the whole thing. A cursory glance doesn't give away any obvious signs of Plasma, or anything really, though the sounds of Pokemon can be faintly heard all around You have entered a new City! You gain a Milestone!

There're no complaints from Dave about the lack of interruptions on the trip. He's quite happy to not be jumped by anything wanting to kill and/or eat him this trek. There're also no verbal complaints about the current arrangements and insistence of his companions. At least not many.
Upon reaching the Dreamyard itself, Dave marvels incredulously at the fact that something like this would even be considered to be left standing, let alone actually left alone. Not like back home, where everything's kept all nice and shiny and clean. Nothing would even be allowed to reach this state in the first place. He shakes his head, before glancing around.
"So, there are four buildings," he says quietly, both to avoid alerting anything and because breaking the silence feels wrong somehow, "And four of us. What say we each take one, cover more ground. Especially because it's getting dark. Might have been better to wait until tomorrow, in retrospect..." He shrugs. "Ah, well. We're here now."

Luke 'Hmmm's at Dave's suggestion. "Not sure how good an idea that is... we don't know where Plasma is right now, and if we get ambushed on our own... things could get ugly. Maybe split up in two groups? We'll still cover twice the ground, we'll have some backup in case stuff goes wrong, plus two groups of two should probably be less noisy than one group of four."

"It probably would be safer to go in groups of two," Jack said, standing next to Luke. "If any of us find trouble, or especially Team Plasma, then we'll let the others know right away," Jack said, holding up his 'dex.
"Sound good to you guys?," Jack asked, looking at Jacqueline and Dave.

As soon as the group gets close to the Dreamyard, Jacqueline's eyes light up at the sprawl of dilapidated buildings and ruin. Now this was her type of aesthetic! If she were ever to find another ghost type for her team, it would be here. Not to mention this would be perfect for her blog too! Before they had even slipped through the hole in the fence, Jacqueline had hit the record button on her Holocaster, letting it passively record the group's adventure.
Still, she couldn't let the coolness of the place distract her from the group's goal, which she was still pretty ticked off about, so she quickly focuses back in to the group conversation. "Well, if we have to split up, I like the sound of two and two. Covers ground while providing a bit more safety from an ambush. Wouldn't want any of us to have our pokemon stolen. How are we pairing off?"

Dave sighs internally. Well, only having to deal with one of them is better than all at once. And he knows that it's likely to be the best that's going to happen. Plus... if something does go wrong, maybe it wouldn't be a terrible thing to have another set of hands along.
"Fine," he says, "Pairs'll do." He glances around at the three others, and discounts Jack - always tackling problems head on - and Jaqueline - he could do without all the quips. Gesturing to Luke - who, admittedly, hasn't been too bad so far - he says, pointing at the least-unsafe looking building, "How about you and I start over there?"

Luke nods. "Good idea." He turns to Jack and Jacqueline. "You guys take another building, and if any of us find something, send a message to the other group as fast as possible and try to stay out of trouble, okay?"

Luke and DaveThe building the pair entered seemed to be the most put together, at least on the outside. However, upon entering through the still standing doorway, they were greeted by debris so thick that the only path through the room was a cramped and winding maze towards the back. The windows were blocked by the garbage, so the only light in the room came from a few holes in the roof, the moonlight gently illuminating the broken furniture and lab equipment. A slow drip began once the remnants of the door closed behind them, near non existent at first but eventually building into a rhythmic sound. Jack and JacqUnlike the building that their companions found, the two Jacks had to nearly crawl in order to make it through the crushed entrance to the building they chose. Once inside, it was fairly open, the interior having been cleaned out of all furniture. A large hole in the ceiling let in not only the moonlight, but a bunch of leaves which coated the floor almost like a carpet, though it was damp enough that there was no crunch as you walked across. A strange aroma was present in the entire room, and on the far side stairs leading down were visible. Everyone give me a Focus roll please

"Ugh," Dave mutters upon entering the building. This is dark, dirty, and cramped. All stuff that he's not particularly a fan of. In an ideal world, everything would be clean, shiny, and well lit. And also wide open. Not looking like a crushing waiting to happen. Sighing, and muttering under his breath how it's barbaric how things could have been let to get this bad, he slowly makes his way along the debris, trying to find another way out of this room. Preferably without getting crushed. Focus (with AP): 15

Jack was pretty surprised at how the teams shook down, especially since he'd basically shouted in body language that he wanted to go with Luke, considering what good friends they were...but then, that was Dave for ya. Jack mentally added 'conversation' to the rapidly growing list of things Dave didn't understand.
"Sure thing," Jack nodded to Luke, a forced smile on his face. At least they weren't going shopping again this time.
As they got close to the first building Jack pulled a flashlight out of his bag, flipping it on. "Me and Bolt will go ahead first and light the way," he said pleasantly to Jacq as he clambered through the ruined entrance, stopping to wait for her to catch up as they took in the area.
"You think we should check out those stairs?," he asked, looking around for signs that someone, man or mon, had been here recently.

Luke looks around the cluttered room, feeling his hope about easily looking through this place disappear. He quickly releases Maia, figuring the small rodent would have a better time traversing the place than they did, and could at least act as a scout. "Maia, go look around, see if you can find anyone else here, and stay out of sight, okay?" he says to her, softly. "Dave, wait up a moment" he says to Dave as the Patrat scurries off. "Maia will go scout out the area first, see if she can find something. This place is too cluttered to really go in blindly ourselves."

Jacqueline slips through the crushed entrance of the building with relative easy, Floon shrinking down and floating through with little difficulty, returning back to full size next to her as soon as they were through the entrance. She pauses, looking at the scene before her with a massive smile on her face, just taking in the beauty of the room. She swings her holocaster up, making sure to get a good shot, and presses a button on the side to force it to take a few pictures over the recording as well. As she's taking her video, she makes a precursory scan of the room, looking for anything that might be out of place, trying not to be too distracted by the beauty. "Well, seems like the stairs is the main point of interest in here, so, lead the way." 12 on Focus 21 on Perception to notice anything out of place in the room.

Dave and Luke
As Dave begins to walk forward, he hears a thump behind him, and looking back he sees Luke lying on the ground. A moment later however, he gets dizzy as well, the dripping sound continuing until eventually its the only thing he can hear as the darkness surrounds him and he loses consciousness.
Jack and Jacq
As Jack begins to search for any signs of life in the room, the smell became overwhelmingly sweet. Looking back towards the entrance, he could see Jacq slumped up against the wall, her Holocaster on the ground beside her, still recording. Before he could make a sound, Jacks eyes began to flutter shut, and he fell to the floor unconscious.
Dave
"Mr Dyson, Sir" a voice called out to Dave, calm and reserved "If you would wake up sir, your next challenger has arrived. He says he came all the way here to LaRousse just to face you. Fought his way up the Battle Tower and is now demanding a challenge. Something about wanting to face the Champion of Unova" As Dave opened his eyes, he saw a man dressed finely standing in front of him. He was in a very clean and sleek room, with a large window being the majority of the wall in front of him. Looking out, he quickly realized he was in LaRousse City.
Luke
Luke opened his eyes and was standing in a dressing room of some kind. Lining the walls around him were TVs showing various battles, many of them including him and a Pokemon that looked like Gawain but bigger. In every one of these battles he seemed to be coming out on top. In unison they all switched to the same overhead view of an empty stadium. UNOVA POKEMON LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP quickly appeared on screen and a green light appeared over a nearby door, signaling something.
Jack
"And then what Professor?" Jack opened his eyes and saw a group of children sitting in front of him wide eyed, the familiar weight of Bolt on his shoulder. "Tell us again how you beat up Team Plasma and became the new Champion of Unova!"
He was sitting in a very comfortable chair, the sound of a fire crackling in the background. Looking over at Bolt, the Pikachu looked content, but much, much older, his fur speckled with gray. "Well?" The children cried out in unison, looking at Jack with anticipation.
Jacq
A rush of wind hit Jacq in the face, and as she struggled to open her eyes, she found herself in a helicopter circling a tall and decrepit tower, the wind bringing a rush of water as she realized that it was storming outside.
"Well Miss Lavoie, that's the famous Kanto Pokemon Tower. Though no one has been in the area in at least five years since the incident. The whole town in abandoned" The pilot calls back to her "Are you sure this is what your viewers want to see?"

"Eh?" Dave asks, somewhat disoriented. Taking stock of his surroundings, he finds them to be familiar ones. Modern, clean, shiny... everything that Unova wasn't. Hold on... the guy mentioned something about Champion of Unova? That... doesn't quite sound right. And then he registers the fact that there's someone in his room. Why is there someone in his room?
"I'm sorry... who are you? And, uh," he asks, "did you say 'Champion of Unova'?" Ugh, he really needs more sleep. Or maybe some aspirin or something, he can feel a headache coming on.

Luke blinks groggily and looks around the room, confused. "What the..?" he mutters, as he looks at one of the screens. That... that's me? And... Gawain? I think, at least... What's going on here? Shaking his head to shake of the foggy feeling, he takes another look around the room, quickly spotting the door. Intrigued (and not sure what else to do) he walked up to it, trying to see if it opened.

Jacqueline takes a few moments, blinking as she stared at the sheets of rain outside. She must have dozed off in the helicopter... odd. Normally she was too excited to be in the air to fall asleep, she must be having an off day. Still, an off day was never a good excuse to ignore adventure, especially not one as special as this one! She turned to the helicopter pilot, speaking loudly to be heard over the wind, rain, and helicopter blades. "Am I sure? Of course I'm sure! You do know what my personal brand is, right? Fashion, Adventure, Ghosts, and Purple! Although thinking about it, I suppose those aren't very cohesive... but that's just part of the charm of it all!"
She turned to look back at her pink haired camera operator, who was currently fiddling with the calibration of her camera drones. "This is probably my most important episode yet, so I expect you to be in the top of your game. Also, stop fiddling with the drones, there's a reason I hired a remote operator for this shoot. Just focus on the handheld, alright?"

Jack looked around for just a moment, but relaxed into his comfortable armchair. He must've accidentally dozed off again, it was his favorite chair for a reason after all, and started dreaming about his adventures. It was one about the early days, when they were just getting started...though he couldn't remember the specifics. The dream had already slipped by.
Now, where was he...oh yes! Another group of eager young would-be trainers, excited to hear the story of his rise to champion, and his defeat of Team Plasma.
"Yes, yes, of course...," he said, sinking back into his chair, steepling his fingers. "Well, as I was saying, we had all defeated the Elite Four--Bolt and myself, Luke, Miss Jacqueline, and yes, even Grouchy Dave, too," he said, smirking at the children. "We were discussing the order we would challenge the current Champion in, or if we would battle amongst ourselves first...and that was when Team Plasma attacked!," Jack said, leaning forward in his chair.
"They came in their massive mechanical monstrosity, the Sky Fortress, and they had a cruel and evil plan. You see, Team Plasma viewed all Pokemon that had been captured as prisoners and slaves. They don't understand the special bonds that are shared between Pokemon and Trainer, bonds of love and friendship forged in battle together," he said scratching Bolt behind the ear absently and petting the aged Pikachu. "In their misguided attempt to 'free' these Pokemon they had developed a terrible, terrible weapon--the Amnesia Cannon. Not only would any Pokemon struck have the link to their pokeball severed, they would also lose all memories of their trainer and their shared experiences. It was a truly horrifying weapon to behold, and with the Elite Four having just been defeated, there was no one left to stop them--no one but us," Jack said, looking over at a group photo of their travelling band of four. It was from ages ago, he and Luke stood center-field, holding Bolt and Gawain, while Dave stood on the left, his back half turned to the camera, and Jacqueline smiling on the right.
"It was a hard-fought battle against Team Plasma while their Sky Fortress fired the terrible Amnesia Cannon. We had sent our flying Pokemon to attack the Fortress, but it wasn't having any effect--the armor was just too tough! Bolt was preparing his own electrical attack when the cannon targeted him--and fired!," Jack said, letting the suspense hang in the air for moment before continuing.
"I saw the cannon take aim at my best friend who I'd known since he'd hatched from his egg--an egg given to me by the Samuel Oak himself, the Pokemon Professor, when I was just a boy, and I knew I couldn't lose my friend, so I jumped in front of the attack, taking the hit myself! The pain was terrible, and I collapsed to the ground, and, just as I was about to lose consciousness, something wonderful happened. Bolt evolved!," he said in a hushed, excited voice.
"He evolved, but no, not into a Raichu, into something else entirely. Our deep bond faced against this terrible enemy had brought out this long-dormant, miraculous power in Bolt, and he flew straight up at the Sky Fortress! Then he used the most powerful Volt Tackle I've ever seen and punched a hole clean through the Sky Fortress and it's terrible weapon! The airship was so damaged it crashed nearby, and the police quickly moved in to arrest the villainous Team Plasma," he said.
"After that, we took some time to recover, then challenged the Champion. If I remember correctly Dave beat the present champion, then lost to Jacqueline, who in turn lost to Luke, who I, in turn, defeated, and what a battle that was...but that is a story for another time," Jack said, grinning at children. Suddenly he had an inkling that he was forgetting about something...
"Ah! The cookies!," he said, pushing himself to his feet. Jack felt old, achey...he even felt his old wound from the Amnesia Cannon. Nonetheless he scrambled his way over to the kitchen, returning a few moments later with a tray full of cookies shaped like the faces of Pokemon, as well as tall glasses of cold milk, for all of the children...and himself and Bolt, of course.
Jack sat back down in his chair, watching the children dunking their warm cookies in the milk with a smile on his face. Even so, as he looked at Bolt munching lazily away on a Pikachu-faced cookie, something didn't seem quite right. The cookie had a sad, almost concerned look on its face...that, and there was just a feeling in the back of his mind that something wasn't quite right. Something was...off.

Dave
"Turner sir, I help keep the challenges running smoothly" The man said with a bow "And yes, I did say Champion of Unova. If I recall correctly you won that title around five years ago? Before you came here and then managed to sweep through the Tower. You have quite the record since coming back. I believe only one loss in your entire time back"
"But yes, a man has come quite some way, claiming he wants a rematch with you to 'break the tie'. He seems quite abrasive"
Luke
When Luke approaches the door, it quickly slides open, leading to some stairs. Making his way out of another set of doors and into the same stadium that was on the screens down below.
The stands were empty, it looked like it wasn't time for a battle or anything. But still, the doors on the other side of the battlefield slid open and a familiar figure exited onto the field. Connor stood across from Luke with a smirk "I never thought you would make it all the way here. Well...At least I know I have an easy win in front of me tomorrow"
Jacq
The cameraman shook his head as he switched over to the personal camera "Ghosts, Adventure, Purple, and Fashion? Those have nothing to do with each other!" He says with derision "But the pay for this job is waaaaay too good for me to turn down, so you must be drawing in the views like crazy. Must have something to do with knowing the Champ over in Unova and helping to take down Team Plasma"
He shrugged and got moved a bit closer to the open door "The Copter will only touch down for a moment. It's not safe around here for it to stay for long. I'll be relying on you to keep us safe as we get into the Tower. Ghost types are especially violent around here and I'm no battler"
Jack
The children munched on the cookies and looked back up at Jack "But if it was an AMNESIA Cannon and it hit you, how come you can still remember all that? Shouldn't you have forgot?" One of them piped up through a mouthful of crumbs "And how did that Pikachu evolve if it's not a Raichu? Is that what you study?"
A few of the other kids jumped in as well "Yeah! You can't evolve and then not evolve! That's not how it works" "Or is it?" It seemed like none of them could come to a consensus and it was devolving into a petty argument, not surprising since they're children.

"Ah, right, right," Dave says, memories beginning to trickle back in. Also a voice berating him for letting himself sleep in so late. "Yeah, that sounds about right... man, the time flies. I don't suppose he said who he is? Because, well, I've been in a lot of battles. If he thinks that any of that makes him stand out at all..." Dave shakes his head, giving a half-smirk.
"Just give me a minute," he says, "Need to make sure I look presentable. Besides, if he's really that irate, then leaving him to steam for a few minutes will do him good. Either fire him up or cool him down." Dave shrugs, "Either works."

As Luke walks through the building, the shock he still feels at times at how far he'd gotten wears off, and he shakes his head a little, smiling. Must've dozed off or zoned out or something. Usually never that extreme... He chuckles lightly to himself.
When he reaches the stadium itself and spots Connor walking in, he braces himself slightly, awaiting the inevitable. At his brother comments, he feels an all too familiar flash of anger, despair and helplessness welling up, but it quickly fades, his experiences giving him confidence. He merely shakes his head and smiles, somewhat regretfully. "Still the same, then, Connor. But I have changed, gotten stronger, better. I'm no longer that scared little boy you and the others pushed around. Whatever happens tomorrow, whoever wins... I doubt it'll be easy, one way or another."
